We'd Like to Teach the World to Sing is the name given to two albums by UK pop group The New Seekers. The first of these, released in late 1971 was a repackaging of their previous album New Colours and was released in the US. The second version of the album was released in the UK and Europe in 1972 with a new line-up of tracks. Both albums however contained the song "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony)".

We'll have things fixed soon. According to the I’d Like to Teach The World To Sing Songfacts, this was written for a Coca-Cola commercial to be sung by The New Seekers. fm/music/The+New+Seekers/ /I%27d+Like+To+Teach+The+World+To+Sing+(In+Perfect+Harmony). on the British charts – January 8th, 1972 for 4 weeks on the US charts – January 9th 1972 for 2 weeks.

I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing. Main genre: Easy Listening. Is a cover of 1 song. I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing by The New Seekers (1972).

What we have here is a hit song that started as a Coke commercial, sung by the group commissioned to sing the jingle. Backer had a track record of success, having created the "Things Go Better with Coke" and "The Real Thing" campaigns for Coke. And on the same 'Bandstand' episode they sang their only other Top 100 hit, "We're Together", it stayed on the chart for one week, right at position (and it was also from a TV commercial; McDonalds' "You Deserve A Break Today" jingle).

Eve Graham and Peter Doyle take the leads on the country-ish "Good Old Fashioned Music" and the very pretty album-closer "Child of Mine. This latter-day New Christy Minstrels was more of a middle-of-the-road vocal pop group in the style of the original Seekers than folksingers, and the impeccable voices sweep in and out with the strings and perfect instrumentation. It was also during the time that the hit record ruled, so all in all, We'd Like to Teach the World to Sing is an acceptable and respectable outing.
