Outside The Dream Syndicate" is collaboration record between avant-garde composer Tony Conrad and the krautrock group Faust, it was originally released in 1973 on Caroline Records, 20 years later the compact disk reissue was released, with an extra track "From The Side Of Woman And Mankind" and only in 2016 a vinyl reissue came out. In 1995 the both parties came together for a live performance of "From the Side of Man and Womankind" which resulted in the live record "Outside The Dream Syndicate - Alive". Tony Conrad was originally approached by another filmmaker from Hamburg who put Conrad in touch with Uwe Nettelbeck. Nettelbeck then took Conrad to a Faust recording session, where he invited Conrad to record an album with the band.
