It is the twenty-first official Nine Inch Nails release. The commercial single was released on April 4, 2006 as an EP. It was also billed as the companion remix disc to With Teeth, much to the chagrin of Trent Reznor. The song went for adds on R&R's alternative rock chart in November 2005.

The Midwich Cuckoos is a 1957 science fiction novel written by the English author John Wyndham. It tells the tale of an English village in which the women become pregnant by brood parasitic aliens. The book has been praised by many critics, but was famously branded a "cosy catastrophe" by Brian Aldiss. After one day the effect vanishes, along with the unidentified object, and the villagers wake with no apparent ill effects. Some months later they realise that every woman of child-bearing age is pregnant – even those who are single or not otherwise in relationships with men – with all indications that the pregnancies were caused by xenogenesis during the period of unconsciousness that has come to be referred to as the "Dayout".

All these time-outs happened on the same day as the one at Midwich. No direct physical violence was involved. was drowned in the Midwich pond for no logical reason. 0. I think I used to have a voice Now I never make a sound I just do what I've been told I really don't want them to come around Oh no. Every day is exactly the same Every day is exactly the same There is no love here and there is no pain Every day is exactly the same. I can feel their eyes are watching In case I lose myself again Sometimes I think I'm happy here Sometimes, yet I still pretend

Every Day Is Exactly The Same" is the sixth track on the 2005 release With Teeth. It seems to be about addiction and overcoming it. There are also possible references to George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four. It is also notable that the drums (performed by Dave Grohl) are quite similar to the drum track to "My Hero", also performed by Grohl. In 2007 it was nominated for the Grammy for "Best Hard Rock Performance" but lost it to "Woman" by Wolfmother. Writing and performance: Trent Reznor.

The Midwich Cuckoos is a science fiction novel written by English author John Wyndham, published in 1957. It has been filmed twice as Village of the Damned in 1960 and 1995. The Military Intelligence department learn that the same thing has taken place in four other parts of the world, including an Inuit settlement in the Canadian Arctic, a small township in Australia's Northern Territory, and a rural Siberian village. The Inuit instinctively killed the newborn Children, sensing they were not their own.
