Bongo Rock" is a rock and roll instrumental written and recorded by Preston Epps. Released as a single in 1959, it charted Pop in the United States. In 1973 the Incredible Bongo Band recorded a cover version of "Bongo Rock" under the title "Bongo Rock '73" which became a minor hit. The Incredible Bongo Band version of the tune gained significant popularity in early hip hop circles as a breakbeat. Pioneering DJ Kool Herc used it frequently in his sets

Apache is that one song that you couldn't possibly get tired of hearing. It's the one song that no matter where it plays, be it a supermarket, cafeteria line, yoga class, math test, or wherever, that will even lift the flattest of feet. I hope I never hear this at a urinal or I'll accidentally piss on my shoes while uncontrollably busting some uprock.

Track D4 is misspelled on cover as "Okey Dokey" where it should read "Ohkey Dokey". Tracks A1, A2, A3, B1 - B3, C1, C2 comprise debut album "Bongo Rock". Tracks A4, C3 - C5, D1 - D5 are all taken from "The Return Of The Incredible Bongo Band".

BONGO ROCK is the two original Incredible Bongo Band albums in their entirety. All 19 tracks on CD contains 2 bonus tracks - including the Grandmaster Flash remix of "Apache". I bought Bongo Rock with the expectation of hearing an instrumental album, instead of listening to an hour of breakbeats.
