Epic is the second studio album by American singer–songwriter Sharon Van Etten. The album was released on September 21, 2010. Epic was recorded and mixed over 11 days in Philadelphia between May 28, 2010 and June 6, 2010 at Miner Street Recordings with producer Brian McTear. The album features guest performances by singers Cat Martino and Meg Baird; Jessica Larrabee and Andy LaPlant of the band She Keeps Bees; and David Hartley of The War on Drugs and the band Nightlands.
On her fifth album, Sharon Van Etten conjures tempests and explores their subsequent calms. It is the peak of her songwriting and her most atmospheric, emotionally piercing album to date. Featured Tracks: Play Track. Remind Me Tomorrow is not a product of this mindset
The Lowdown: It’s been nearly five years since the pastoral sounds of Are We There, Sharon Van Etten’s fourth studio album that further solidified the singer-songwriter’s place in the alternative rock canon. Yet, it also presented an artist in transition, one who was still willing to admit she’s lost in the dark, be it romantically, spiritually, or creatively.

Van Etten has said that her second album Epic was inspired by her recovery from a bad relationship: This guy didn’t even let me have a guitar. I don’t have any bitterness toward him because he kicked my ass into leaving Tennessee. But the record isn’t about him; it’s about me getting over that situation. An album later, Sharon returns to these memories that remain with her- like serpents whose bitterness she still remembers. Serpents" Track Info. Written By Sharon Van Etten. An even more challenging opportunity presented itself at that time: A casting director had caught her set on that Nick Cave tour and had recommended her to Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, who were prepping their brooding sci-fi Netflix series The OA. Although Van Etten had never acted professionally, she was cast as Rachel, one of the troubled prisoners held captive with Marling’s character.
