The Merv Griffin Show is an American television talk show starring Merv Griffin. The series ran from October 1, 1962 to March 29, 1963 on NBC, May 1965 to August 15, 1969 in first-run syndication, from August 18, 1969 to February 11, 1972 at 11:30 PM ET weeknights on CBS and again in first-run syndication from February 14, 1972 to September 5, 1986
Merv and Merla were married in 1962. They began to perform classical concerts, as well as musical variety acts for service clubs. During this period, Merv was appointed Director of the Christian Performing Arts of Canada. Merv and Merla have ministered in over 50 countries, including Israel, which became a home for their family from 1976-88. Here they concieved and spearheaded the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem, as well as the Feast of Tabernacles, an annual event lasting a week, which draws 6000 Christians from 108 different countries. In 2001, Merv and Merla returned to Israel, and actually live again in Jerusalem. Merv functioned again for a while as the Head of the Music Department of the Anglican International School in Jerusalem, where he taught band and orchestra, as well as music theory and music history.
No way would Merv hit on H'wood royalty unless he was 1,000% sure the kid would be receptive. Very deep in the closet, as everyone was then. He loved to be naked in the center of a group of very handsome, naked, boys. He was the only"name" at the parties I attended and a major, major flamer in private.
The Merv Griffin Show is widely considered one of the premier talk shows in the history of television. Hosted by the charming and intelligent Merv Griffin, this ground-breaking show was known for in-depth interviews with celebrities and newsmakers, innovative stand-up comedy and stellar musical performances.

When George Curzon visited the ruined city of Merv in 1888, the vision of its decay overwhelmed him. In the midst of an absolute wilderness of crumbling brick and clay, the future viceroy of India wrote, the spectacle of walls, towers, ramparts and domes, stretching in bewildering confusion to the horizon, reminds us that we are in the centre of bygone greatness. Modern-day visitors to the site of Merv in southern Turkmenistan can still tour its dusty, windswept remains.
