From 92-94 they released some of the best junglistic'ardcore there was. Classics like Darkness, Weekend, Dubplate Wars, 2 Dope ep, and artists like TDK whose TOG sublabel was a peak of amen choppage).

Bizzy B founded Brain Records in 1991 and started releasing Breakbeat Hardcore taking influence from House and Techno but adding heavy breakbeats and ragga vocal samples. He pumped out dozens of records, often under other monikers or in collaboration with other producers. Along with Dean Vincent (Pugwash), he formed The Dream Team, which released material on seminal Jungle/Hardcore label Suburban Base Records, as well as the duo's own Joker Records. Eventually a resurgence of interest in Jungle's harder side led to Bizzy B's earlier material gaining a new audience, and his newer productions brought back the Amen breaks.

Is Brian where its says Brian records presents a typo or is it supposed to be brian instead of brain??!!??

Steelcaster
It's a typo but it's a funny one because Bizzy B's real name happens to be Brian!

Overall a typical Biizy B release, chasing amens that led your legs twisted when trying to dance on the dancefloor. Nevertheless, every single track is a quality piece for itself. The track that did it for me at that time and still does is "The Brain Record Crew". Those speedy amens with the spheric, dark break haunted by the vocal sample (most likely Bizzy B himself just does the trick

Well for me it's just a great record! Bizzy B and Equinox really should have released more tunes :)My favourite is Sympathy ..just a stunning piece made up of musical atmospheres and smooth but intricate riddims, that takes me on a journey every single time.. Top stuff!

The Brain Records Crew is the best track on this EP.

I think this is the oldest plate I've got in my oldskool collection, but oh, my, god... Everybody is one of those tracks that made me smile with pleasure till my face hurt when I heard the insanity & rawness of the drum cuttage. It switches from deep to dark a few times and I always love deep oldskool Jungle & Garage chords, but I rarely get into darkcore style tunes/parts, well this track is the exception (probably along with Demon Resurrection). My other fave track is Sympathy. Its a lot more chilled and 'lowdown' than Everybody but that's never a bad thing. Its a beautiful track with its sweet vocal sample and full flavoured chords & pads driven by a more basic but rolling drumloop. Start to finish, both B side tracks are just too dangerous to not spin!

There are two pressings of this EP. The labels are identical but one of them has the first few beats chopped of the start of the first tracks making them tricky to mix and Seven Minutes of Madness is shorter. I guess he had it recut, on the second pressing the music goes right up to the label with a tiny runout and all the tracks start when they should. I swapped my first copy of this soon after getting it but missed it so asked my local shop to order me one in and the replacement was much better!Awesome EP, I loved Bizzy B's stuff back in 93 and it still sounds great now, so manic! There are little edits everywhere that make it great for mixing with. There is an exception on this EP with the chilled out, melancholy vibes of Sympathy, but the other three are full throttle darkness!

First vinyl appearance from Marlon Sterling (AKA Equinox) when he was 16 years old.
