I saw Charles Brown perform at Nightstage in Cambridge, Massachusetts and this 2 CD set captures the feel of Mr Brown's great voice and piano playing. 2 people found this helpful. For those not familiar with Charles Brown, he was a pianist/vocalist who was well known in jazz and R&B circles during the late 1940s through the 1950s. He had a number of chart hits but is probably best known for his recordings of Drifting Blues and Merry Christmas Baby. Brown's style was definately based in the blues but he tended to have a more relaxed, laid back delivery (hence the "Cool Blues" of this CDs title) that often gets labelled as jazz rather than blues.
