He's got some great bandmates along for the ride (including Peter Noone on bass), but it's his own guitar crunching that stands out about the folk-rock stories he tells. In other places, as on "One Drink Away," he kicks back with the acoustic. Still other tracks play like pure, summery atmosphere with a simply yet colorful story attached ("Downtown"). The name of his label implies a slow, kick-back type of vibe, but in its best spot, this one really rocks.

Peter Bruntnell (born 26 January 1962 in Wellington, New Zealand) is a British singer–songwriter. His musical style is sometimes referred to as Americana, although it has also been described as country rock and alternative country. Bruntnell's family is originally from Wales; his family moved to New Zealand when his father was sent to work at the British High Commission in Wellington for four years.

Peter Bruntnell is a cross between Steve Earle and Alejandro Escovedo, which is quite remarkable considering he's a Brit. Here Comes the Swells" is as perfect as a song can get without being written by Lennon and/or McCartney and sets the bar to which the rest of the album comes damn near close to reaching. Ends of the Earth is a must for alt-country fans and Peter Bruntnell will, strangely enough, put England on the map for Americana.
