On January 27, 2018, Alma was part of the domestic jury for the final of Destination Eurovision as a substitute for her Eurovision predecessor Amir, who was unable to participate due to prior commitments.

France was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 by Ortal with the song "Chacun pense à soi". For the first time since Eurovision 2000, France 3 organised a National Preselection which was hosted by Laurent Ruquier and Elsa Fayer. In March there were 2 shows: the introductory documentary on March 14 showed the selection of the candidates who were earlier selected by France 3. The program ended with a presentation of the five finalists.

Jean-Paul Mauric (born 17 June 1933, Hyères, Var - died 5 January 1971, Marseille) was a French singer, best known for his participation in the 1961 Eurovision Song Contest. Mauric studied at the Conservatoire de Toulon, and after touring around Provence as an orchestra singer, he obtained a record contract as a result of winning a talent contest at the Théâtre Marigny in Paris in 1957.
