This Singspiel (songplay) was first performed at the Burgtheater in Vienna, and is the wellspring of the famous story about Mozarts postperformance meeting with Emperor Joseph II in which the illustrious Enlightenment ruler uttered his famous critique "Too beautiful for our ears and monstrous many notes, my dear Mozart". Mozart supposedly replied "Exactly as many as necessary, your majesty".

Though his voice sometimes lacked individuality, Stuart Burrows was in many ways an ideal Mozart and French lyric tenor, flexible and with a seemingly seamless technique. He made both his Vienna State Opera and Salzburg Festival debuts in 1970, as Tamino in Mozart's The Magic Flute and as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, respectively, following up this double-header with his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1971 (again as Ottavio). Burrows was the first singer from the United Kingdom to sing 12 consecutive seasons at that house. His La Scala debut was in 1978 in Berlioz's La damnation de Faust.

Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau (28 May 1925 – 18 May 2012) was a German lyric baritone and conductor of classical music, one of the most famous Lieder (art song) performers of the post-war period, best known as a singer of Franz Schubert's Lieder, particularly "Winterreise" of which his recordings with accompanist Gerald Moore and Jörg Demus are still critically acclaimed half Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. You may hear Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau singing the role of "Papageno" in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera The Magic Flute K. 620 with the RIAS Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ferenc Fricsay in 1955 Here on archive. Bach, 75 Cantatas, with Karl Richter on the Polygram label. Bach, Jesus and bass parts in the Passions under a wide host of conductors, . Herbert von Karajan, Otto Klemperer, Wilhelm Furtwängler, Fritz Lehmann, and Karl Richter.

The Concerto for Flute, Harp, and Orchestra in C major, K. 299/297c, is a concerto by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart for flute, harp, and orchestra. It is one of only two true double concertos that he wrote (the other being his Piano Concerto No. 10; though his Sinfonia Concertante for Violin, Viola, and Orchestra could just as well be considered a "double concerto"), as well as the only piece of music by Mozart for the harp
